Barddhaman

Bardhaman, officially known as Bardhaman Sadar, is a city and municipality situated on the northern bank of the Damodar river in the state of West Bengal, India. It serves as the headquarters of the Purba Bardhaman district.

The city became a district capital during the period of British rule. While it is commonly referred to as Bardhaman, the alternative name Burdwan has remained in use since that era.
