Batlagundu, also officially known as Vathalagundu, is a town situated in the Nilakottai block of the Dindigul district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The name of the town is derived from Vetrilai kundru, which eventually transformed into Vathalagundu. It serves as the fifth-largest town within the Dindigul district and holds a significant portion of the voters in the Nilakottai Constituency.
The town is strategically located at a junction connecting three main districts of South Tamil Nadu and functions as a major gateway to Kodaikanal. It is also notable as the birthplace of Subramaniya Siva, who was an Indian freedom fighter, activist, and writer.
