Vaniyambadi is a town located in the Tirupathur district of Tamil Nadu, India. It serves as the headquarters for the Vaniyambadi Revenue district, which encompasses both Vaniyambadi and Ambur. The town is situated approximately 200 kilometers from Chennai and 178 kilometers from Bengaluru.
The Vaniyambadi Municipality was officially formed in April 1886 under G.O. MS. No. 421 of the Local & Municipality Department. It underwent several administrative upgrades over the following century, being designated as a Grade II Municipality in May 1996 and subsequently elevated to a 1st Grade Municipality in 1998.
