Tirunelveli, also known as Nellai, is a city and municipal corporation located in the southern part of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Situated on the west bank of the Thamirabarani River, it serves as the administrative headquarters for the Tirunelveli District.
According to the 2011 census, the city had a population of 473,637 individuals. It ranked as the seventh-largest city in Tamil Nadu by population at that time.
