Sivaganga is a town and the headquarters of the Sivaganga district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is situated approximately 48 km from Madurai and 449 km from the state capital, Chennai.
The town is notable for its historical landmarks, including the 16th-century Sivagangai Fort located in the Town Centre. This fort houses the Rajarajeshwari Amman Temple, which features numerous ornate sculptures. Nearby, a Government Museum displays natural history exhibits and prehistoric relics.
The region contains various historical monuments and temples maintained by public authorities. Notable sites include lands donated by King Muthuvaduganatha Thevar, as well as several temples built and maintained by the Maruthpandiyar brothers and Princess Velunachiyar.
