Rajapalayam is a city located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It serves as the largest municipality within the Virudhunagar district and is situated at the foothills of the Western Ghats. The city lies on the Madurai to Kollam National Highway, approximately 562 km south of Chennai, the state capital.

The local economy is primarily industrial, characterized by numerous mills dedicated to spinning and weaving. Additionally, Rajapalayam is recognized for its production of mangoes and as the origin of the Rajapalayam breed of dogs.
