Polur is a scenic town and market center located in the Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu, India. Situated at the foothills of the Javvadhi hills, which are part of the Eastern Ghats, the town is frequently referred to as the Gateway of the Eastern Ghats. It is positioned approximately 29 kilometers north of Tiruvannamalai and 45 kilometers south of Vellore Metropolis.
The town serves as a divisional headquarters and a significant religious site for Lord Narasimha at Sampathgiri. Historically, Polur was an eminent center for Tamil Jainism. The local economy features various agro-based industries, including coir production, and is home to Dharani Sugars, Chemicals and Fertiliser Pvt., Ltd. The well-known Chittoor - Cuddalore road passes through the town.
