Palani, also known as Pazhani, is a town located in the Dindigul district of the Tamil Nadu state in India. It serves as the second-largest town in the district, following Dindigul. The town is situated approximately 60 kilometres west of Dindigul and lies within a region accessible from several major hubs, including Coimbatore, Madurai, and Kodaikanal.
The town is primarily known for the Palani Murugan Temple, also referred to as the Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple. Dedicated to the deity Murugan, the temple is situated on a hill overlooking the town and attracts more than 7 million pilgrims annually. As of 2011, the population of the town was recorded at 70,467.
