Painkulam is a village located in the Panjal Grama Panchayat within the Thrissur district of Kerala, India. The village is situated on the shores of the Bharathappuzha river.
The area is notable as the birthplace of the late Raman Chakyar, an influential leader in the world of art. He is recognized for democratizing traditional temple arts by teaching Koodiyattam and Chakyar Koothu to individuals outside of the Chakyar caste.
