Neelankarai is a census town and locality situated in the southern part of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located within the Chennai district, approximately seven kilometers south of Adyar. The area is bordered by Palavakkam to the north, Vettuvankeni to the south, Thoraipakkam to the west, and the Bay of Bengal to the east.
The locality was formerly known as Thiruneelakandapuram, a name derived from the Thiruneelakandeshwarar temple. Over time, Neelankarai has undergone significant development and has gained popularity for various reasons.
