Maraimalai Nagar is a municipality town located in the Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu, India. Situated in the southern part of the Chennai metropolitan area, it serves as a satellite town to the state capital. The town is positioned approximately 50 km from downtown Chennai (Egmore) and about 15 km from Vandalur.
Developed by the CMDA in 1980, Maraimalai Nagar is characterized by its significant industrial presence. The area hosts several heavy industries, including Ford India and BMW car factories located within a mile of the town. Additionally, the software company Infosys maintains an office within eight kilometers, while the neighboring Potheri serves as the main campus for SRM University.
As of 2011, the population of Maraimalai Nagar was recorded at 81,872.
