Madurantakam is a municipality located in the Chengalpattu district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It serves as the southernmost suburb of Chennai city and had a recorded population of 30,796 as of 2011.
The town is primarily known for the Madurantakam lake, which is the second largest artificial lake in Tamil Nadu. Historical accounts attribute the construction of the lake to the Chola King Uttama Chola, also known as Maduranthaka, during his reign. The area is also home to the Eri-Katha Ramar Temple.
