Kattumannarkoil is a municipality and taluk headquarters located in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, India. The town, which was constituted as a Town Panchayat in 1892, covers an area of approximately 19.425 km2. It is situated along the Chidambaram-Coimbatore Highway, positioned about 25 km southwest of Chidambaram and 25 km east of Srimushnam.
Historically known as Veeranarayanapuram, the town is associated with significant religious traditions in Vaishnavism. It is considered the birthplace of the Acharyas Nathamuni and Yamunacharya. Local tradition holds that Lord Vishnu visited the area as King Mannan to hold the hand of Mahalakshmi; he subsequently asked Nathamunigal to share the Divya Prabandham and the Vaishnava Sampradayam with the world. The name Kattumannarkoil is derived from the title "Kattum-Mannan-Aanaar" attributed to the deity during this period.
