Katthivakkam is a residential and industrial area situated in the northern part of Chennai, India. It is currently located within Zone 1 of the Greater Chennai Corporation and falls under the Thiruvottiyur taluk of the Chennai district. The neighborhood is also part of the Thiruvottiyur state assembly constituency and the Chennai North region.
Historically, Katthivakkam was a town and municipality in the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. It was absorbed by the city of Chennai in September 2011 and officially moved within the Chennai district limits in January 2018. The area is served by the Katthivakkam railway station and had a recorded population of 36,617 as of 2011.
