Dharapuram is a town located in the Thiruppur district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated along the banks of the Amaravati River. As of 2011, the town had a recorded population of 67,007.
Recognized as one of the oldest towns in South India, Dharapuram served as the capital of Kongu Nadu under several historical dynasties, including the Cheras, Western Ganga Dynasty, and later the Kongu Cholas. During these periods, it was known by the name Veeradapuram.
The town is notable for its religious heritage and houses several famous temples, such as the Agatheeswarar Temple and the Kaadu Hanumanthasamy temple, along with many other ancient structures.
