Avinashi is a municipality located in the Tiruppur district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It serves as one of the nine taluks within the district and was formerly part of the Coimbatore (Kovai) district before Tiruppur was established as a separate administrative entity. The town is situated off National Highway NH544, which bypasses its center.
The area is recognized as a popular pilgrimage destination in Western Tamil Nadu, with its history centered around the Avinasilingeswarar temple. Due to its location, it serves as a common stopping point for vehicles traveling between Chennai and Cochin from the western region of the state. Administratively, Avinashi Taluk consists of one municipality and a Block Panchayat comprising 19 wards and 31 Village Panchayats.
