Ariyalur is a town and the district headquarters of the Ariyalur district, located in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is situated at a distance of approximately 310 km (190 mi) from Chennai, the state capital.
The region is characterized by its significant natural resources, specifically being rich in limestone. This geological feature has led to industrial development in the area, which currently hosts seven cement factories and two sugar factories.
