Sri Ganganagar is a city located in the northernmost part of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Sri Ganganagar district and is situated near the international border with Pakistan.
The city was established by Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner State, who introduced canal irrigation to the arid region. It was named in his honor. The development of the Gang Canal and the subsequent Bhakra irrigation system transformed the surrounding landscape into fertile agricultural land, earning the area the nickname "food basket of Rajasthan."
