Nimach, also known as Neemuch, is a city located in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, India. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Neemuch District and shares its northwestern border with the state of Rajasthan.
Historically, the town functioned as a large British cantonment within the Gwalior princely state. In 1822, it became the headquarters for the combined Rajputana–Malwa political agency, and later served as the headquarters of the Malwa Agency in 1895. The British Cantonment was officially disbanded in 1932, after which the area was maintained by a British Municipal Board.
