Makrana is an urban city located in the Didwana-Kuchaman district of Rajasthan, India. It is situated near Kuchaman City, approximately 110 km west of Jaipur and 190 km northeast of Jodhpur. The Rajasthani language is widely spoken in the region.
The town serves as a tehsil headquarters with jurisdiction over 136 villages, making it the largest tehsil in its district. It is recognized for its significant role in the construction of the Taj Mahal, having supplied the marble, craftsmen, and stonemasons required to build the UNESCO World Heritage site.
Makrana is also known for its high-quality marble, which has received GHSR status from the IUGS. The town is considered one of the developing cities within the state of Rajasthan.
