Samrala

Samrala is a city and municipal council located in the Ludhiana district of the Indian state of Punjab. Situated approximately 35 km east of the district headquarters, Ludhiana, it lies along the highway leading to Chandigarh. The town is classified as a Class III Municipality.

The city is notable for housing one of the oldest tehsils in the region. Local tradition suggests that the name Samrala originated from the names of two brothers, Sama and Rala.
