Phillaur is a town and municipal council located in the Jalandhar district of Punjab, India. It serves as a tehsil and is geographically situated on the border between the Doaba and Puadh regions. The town is positioned approximately 20 km from Ludhiana, 45 km from Jalandhar, and 140 km from Amritsar.
The settlement was founded during the 12th or 13th century by a Rajput Maharaja named Ratan Pal Naru. From its founding until 1947, it was known as the Kingdom of Phulnagar before eventually becoming known as Phillaur.
