Lalru is a town and Municipal Council located in the Mohali District of India. It is situated approximately 30 km from Chandigarh, which serves as the capital of both Haryana and Punjab. The town lies along the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway (NH 22) and features one of the toll tax barriers on the Chandigarh-Delhi National Highway.
The town is part of the Chandigarh Capital Region (CCR), also known as the Chandigarh Metropolitan Region (CMR). This region encompasses the union territory city of Chandigarh along with neighboring cities such as Mohali, Zirakpur, New Chandigarh, and Panchkula. Development within this area is managed by several authorities, including the Chandigarh Administration, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), and the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).
