Dinanagar is a town and municipal council located in the Gurdaspur district within the Majha region of Punjab, India. The settlement derives its name from Adina Beg, who served as the subahdar of Punjab for both the Mughals and Marathas. While serving as the governor of the nearby town of Behrampur, Adina Beg established his residence and conducted government operations primarily from Dinanagar.
During the era of the Punjabi Sikh Empire, the town became a favored summer resort for Maharaja Ranjit Singh. He frequently held durbar there during the summer months, which effectively established the town as his summer capital.
