Dhanaula is a town and municipal council located in the Barnala district of Punjab, India. It is situated on the Sangrur-Barnala road, approximately 12 km from Barnala and 18 km west of Sangrur.
The town was founded in 1718 by Gurditta, the eldest son of Taloka. Historically, Dhanaula served as the capital of the erstwhile Princely State of Nabha until 1755, when Raja Hamir Singh established Nabha as the new capital and built a fort that currently houses the local police station.
Known as a town of temples, Dhanaula features a notable temple dedicated to Hanuman. According to local tradition, an idol of Hanuman was discovered while a man was digging a ditch, leading to the construction of a temple where the idol is now worshipped by the public.
