Bhawanigarh

Bhawanigarh, formerly known as Dhode, is a town and municipal council located in the Sangrur district of Punjab, India. It serves as the headquarters for the Bhawanigarh tehsil, an administrative division established in December 2016. The town derives its alternative name from the clan of its original founders.

Geographically, Bhawanigarh is situated on the Patiala-Sangrur road, positioned approximately 19 kilometres east of Sangrur and 39 kilometres west of Patiala. The local administrative block encompasses 66 villages within the district. Notably, the town maintains a literacy rate that is higher than other areas in the Sangrur district.
