Jeypore is a city located in the Koraput district of the Indian state of Odisha. The settlement was established in the mid-17th century by Vir Vikram Dev.
The region's political history involves a transition from an independent kingdom to British oversight. In 1777, the East India Company defeated Dev's kingdom and declared it a Zamindari or Feudatory of the British Crown. It later functioned as a Princely state until its dissolution in 1947 during the formation of the Dominion of India.
