Jagatsinghpur is a town located in the state of Odisha on the eastern coast of India. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Jagatsinghpur district, which was established as a separate entity from Cuttack district on April 1, 1993.
The district is characterized by its small geographical proportions and triangular shape, covering a landmass of 1,759 km2. It is the smallest district in Odisha and features a deltaic and partly littoral landscape. Historically, the area dates back to the 6th century AD, coinciding with the period of the Prachi valley civilization.
