Brajrajnagar is a town and municipality located in the Jharsuguda district of Odisha, India. Situated on rocky terrain along the banks of the Ib River, the town is characterized by its historical development tied to industrial activity.
Local legend suggests the town was named after Braj Mohan Birla, who established the Orient Paper Mills there in 1936. Many of the local temples were constructed by the Birla family. Following the closure of the mills in 1999, the area became well known for coal mines owned by MCL.
