Shivamogga

Shivamogga, also known as Shimoga, is a city, taluka, and the district headquarters of the Shimoga district located in the Karnataka state of India. Situated on the banks of the Tunga River, the city serves as a significant administrative center for the region.

The city is popularly nicknamed the "Gateway to Malnad" due to its location as an entry point to the hilly region of the Western Ghats. As of the 2011 census, the population of Shivamogga city was recorded at 322,650. Additionally, the city was selected for the Smart Cities Mission, ranking fourth in the state and 25th in the country as of November 2020.
