Mahalingpur, also known as Mahalingapura in Kannada, is a prominent commercial town located in the Bagalkot district of the Indian state of Karnataka. Historically referred to as Naragatti, the settlement was renamed Mahalingpur following the appearance of Lord Shri Mahalingeshwara.
The local economy is primarily driven by agriculture, weaving, and jaggery production. Jaggery and sarees are common export goods from the region. The town is characterized by its pleasant climate and picturesque surroundings, situated near the source of the Ghataprabha River, which flows through the nearby village of Nandagaon before merging with the Krishna River at Kudala Sangama.
