Lingsugur

Lingasugur, also pronounced as Lingasugūru, is a municipal town located in the Raichur district of the Indian state of Karnataka. Historically known as Chavani, the area served as the site of a major British cantonment.

The town and its surrounding taluk are characterized by numerous temples, hills, and forts (Quila). Notably, Mudgal within the Lingasugur taluk contains a very ancient fort. The region is also recognized for its cultural significance, with Muharram and Maha Shivaratri being important festivals celebrated in the area.
