Kalaburagi, formerly known as Gulbarga, is a city located in the Indian state of Karnataka. It serves as the headquarters for both the Kalaburagi district and the Kalaburagi division, with its municipal governance handled by a Municipal Corporation. The city also houses the circuit bench of the High Court of Karnataka.
The city is notable for its historical architecture from the Bahmani Kingdom era, including the Kalaburagi Fort, which contains the Jama Masjid. Other significant monuments include the Haft Gumbaz and the Shor Gumbad. In 2014, several buildings in the city were included on UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites under the designation "Monuments and Forts of the Deccan Sultanate."
Kalaburagi is home to various religious structures such as the Hazrath Khwaja Banda Nawaz Dargah, the Sharana Basaveshwara Temple, and the Buddha Vihar. Additionally, the city is known for housing the world's largest cannon.
