Ilkal is a city located in the Bagalkot district of the Indian state of Karnataka. Situated in a valley in the southeast corner of the district, the town lies near the borders of Kushtagi taluk in the Koppal district.
The city serves as an important center for trade, commerce, education, and industry. It is well-connected to both state and national highways and is recognized for its hospitality and various educational institutions. Historically, Ilkal fell within the jurisdiction of Hungund taluk, located approximately 12 km to the north, but it has since become a taluk itself.
