Hutagalli

India

Hootagalli, also known as Hutagalli, is a city and suburb located in the Mysore district of Karnataka, India. It is situated on the outskirts of Mysuru and forms part of the continuous urban area of the Mysuru metropolitan region.

The Hootagalli City Municipal Council was officially established in November 2020 following a government approval to merge four specific areas: the previous census towns of Hinkal and Hootagalli, along with the Gram Panchayats of Koorgalli and Belavadi. This council covers a total area of 28.48 square kilometers. While there were initial plans to incorporate the area into the Mysuru City Corporation to form a Greater Mysuru City Corporation, a separate municipal body was created instead due to disputes regarding the proposal.

According to the 2011 census, the combined population of the city municipal council is 56,876. The formation of the CMC became official following a gazetted notification issued on November 26, 2020.
