Gubbi, formerly known as Amaragonda, is a town situated in the Tumakuru District of Karnataka, India. It is located approximately 20 km from Tumakuru and 90 km from Bengaluru along National Highway 206. The town covers an area of 6.67 sq. km and had a recorded population of 18,446 in 2011.
The Gubbi Urban Local Body (ULB) consists of 17 wards, each represented by one councillor. The town is notable for hosting the Gosala Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Temple of the Veerashaiva sect and the Sri Chidambarashrama. S. R. Srinivas serves as the representative for Gubbi at the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
