Bidar is a city located in the state of Karnataka, India, and serves as the headquarters of the Bidar district. Situated on the Deccan Plateau, the city is recognized as a prominent location on India's archaeological map due to its extensive collection of historical, religious, and architectural heritage sites.
The city is notably known as the "City of Whispering Monuments" because approximately 30 of the 61 monuments listed by the state Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage are tombs located within and around the urban area. A primary landmark is the Bidar fort, a structure that has remained standing for more than 500 years. In recent years, these heritage sites have become significant locations for film production, attracting both the Bollywood and Kannada film industries.
