Basavakalyan is a historical city and municipal council located in the Bidar District of the Indian state of Karnataka. It served as a significant political center in the past, functioning as the capital for both the Kalyani Chalukyas and the Kalachuris of Kalyani.
The city is currently recognized as an important industrial hub within the Bidar district. It is also notable for housing the world's tallest Basavanna statue, which stands at a height of 108 feet.
