Bankapura is a panchayat town located in the Haveri district of Karnataka, India. It is situated within the Shiggaon taluk and is positioned approximately 2.5 km from the Pune-Bangalore national highway (NH-4). The town lies about 22 km from Haveri town and roughly 45 km from Hubli-Dharwad.
The area is recognized as a historical site featuring several notable landmarks, including the Nagareshwara temple and the Bankapura fort. It is also home to the Bankapura Peacock Sanctuary. Additionally, the nearby village of Baada is noted as the birthplace of Kanakadasa.
