Åland is an autonomous and demilitarised region located in Finland. It received its autonomy in 1920 and currently serves as the smallest region of the country by both land area and population. It constitutes approximately 0.51% of Finland's total land area and 0.54% of its population, with a total population of 30,654.
The official language of Åland is Swedish, and the region's capital city is Mariehamn.
