Virar is a coastal city located in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, India. It serves as the northernmost section of the larger city of Vasai-Virar and falls under the administration of the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation.
Geographically situated south of the Palghar district and north of Mumbai, Virar represents the outermost portion of the northern side of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The area is governed by the Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate for law enforcement purposes.
