Pandharpur, also known as Pandaripuram, is a popular pilgrimage town located in the Solapur District of Maharashtra, India. Situated on the banks of the Chandrabhagā River near the city of Solapur, it serves as one of eleven tehsils within its district and functions as an electoral constituency for the state legislative assembly.
The town is primarily known for the Vithoba temple, which attracts approximately one million Hindu pilgrims during the major yātrā pilgrimage held in Ashadha (June–July). The deity Vithoba has been worshipped by numerous prominent Bhakti saints of Maharashtra, including Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Tukārām, and Sant Nāmdev. Additionally, it is reported that the saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu spent seven days in the city at the Vithobha Temple.
Other notable religious sites in the area include a small temple of Śri Vitthala-Rukmini in the Isbavi area, known as Wakhari Va Korti Devalayas or Visava Mandir, which is as old as the main Vitthala-Rukmini Mandir. Kasegaon stands as the largest village within the Pandharpur talukas.
