Koynanagar

Koynanagar is a town located in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is situated on the banks of the Koyna River along the Chiplun-Sangli state highway.

The town is primarily known for its association with the Koyna Dam and the Koyna Hydroelectric Project, which stands as the largest completed hydroelectric project in India. Historically, the settlement was significantly impacted by an earthquake in 1967 that flattened the city and resulted in 180 fatalities.
