Junnar

Junnar is a city located in the Pune district of the Indian state of Maharashtra. The city possesses a long history that dates back to the first millennium.

The area is notable for its historical significance, specifically as the site of the nearby Shivneri fort. This fort served as the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who founded the Maratha Empire. Additionally, on January 9, 2018, the government of Maharashtra officially declared Junnar the first tourism taluka in the Pune district.
