Jalgaon is a city located in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is situated in North Maharashtra within the sub-region of Khandesh and serves as the administrative headquarters for the Jalgaon district. Within the Khandesh sub-region, it is recognized as the largest city.
The city is positioned on Asian Highway 53 and is located approximately 76.3 kilometers (47.41 miles) from the Ajanta Caves. The Girna River flows from the western part of the city. Jalgaon is colloquially known as the "Banana city of India" because farmers in this region produce roughly two-thirds of Maharashtra's total banana output.
