Jaysingpur is a city and municipal council located in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, India. It serves as a major satellite suburb of Sangli city and occupies a strategic location between the towns of Sangli, Kolhapur, Miraj, and Ichalkaranji.
The city is named after Raja Jaysing, who was the father of Shrimant Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur and planned the city's architecture. Under the development led by Shahu Maharaj, Jaysingpur was designed as one of the few "chess board cities" in Maharashtra, characterized by a layout where roads meet at 90-degree angles.
