Anjangaon is a city and municipal council located in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, India. It was granted its status as a Municipal Council in 1930, making it the first such council established within the Amravati district and currently the second largest.
The region is technically composed of two main zones, Anjangaon and Surji, which are situated on opposite sides of the Shahanur River. Together, these areas are often referred to as Anjangaon-Surji. The Anjangaon Surji Tehsil was formally established in 1981.
The area is recognized as a significant agricultural center, specifically known as the "Banana Hub of Vidarbha" due to its large-scale production of bananas. Additionally, it serves as a notable hub for medicinal plants, including Safed musali and Piper longum.
