Varappuzha is a census town located in the Paravur Taluk of the Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. It serves as a northern suburb of the city of Kochi, situated approximately 15 km from the city center and 8 km from Edapally. The area is positioned along National Highway 66, which connects Vytilla with North Paravur.
The region is characterized by its agricultural and maritime activities, with fishing and farming being the primary occupations of the local population. A significant portion of the western part of Varappuzha, known as Devaswompadam, features large-scale paddy cultivation. This area specializes in Pokkali paddy and "Kettu," which refers to interim fish cultivation. Additionally, Varappuzha is recognized for its prominent fish market.
