Vaikom is a municipality located in the Kottayam district of Kerala, India. It is situated approximately 33 km (20.5 mi) north of the district headquarters in Kottayam and about 183 km (113.7 mi) north of Thiruvananthapuram, which serves as the state capital.
According to the 2011 Indian census, Vaikom has a population of 23,234 people. The municipality maintains a population density of 2,661 per square kilometer (6,890 per square mile).
