Punalur is a municipality located in the eastern part of the Kollam district in Kerala, India. It serves as the headquarters for both the Punalur Taluk and the Punalur Revenue Division.
The town is situated on the banks of the Kallada River at the foothills of the Western Ghats. Geographically, it is positioned approximately 45 kilometres northeast of Kollam and 68 kilometres north of Thiruvananthapuram.
